User Experience and Design Lead
Job summary
Fetch is seeking an experienced, passionate and creative expert in UI/UX, usability, and information architecture principles to lead the design efforts for our cutting-edge Internet data products. We are looking for a designer who is passionate about conceptualizing high-level ideas as well as tactical UI design and implementation.
Fetch Technologies is creating a new category of Internet data capabilities for organizations, and we seek creative and energetic individuals who understand how to design online products and/or service interfaces and flows with a customer-centric focus. He/She must thrive in both the big picture and fine-detail worlds, be able to create dynamic prototypes, and be willing to serve as an active participant in the implementation process as well as the design process. Responsibilities:
- Create the overall UI & information architecture, workflow, interaction designs, page flows, and user interface specifications for our desktop and web-based applications
- Organize diverse business user behavior, tasks, drivers, and motivations and translate them into an intuitive, coherent, easy-to-navigate application framework.
- Evaluate existing user interfaces and design improvements. Identify opportunities to improve the usability of customer interactions.
- Work hand-in-hand with product managers and engineers to bring product ideas to life
- Collaborate with development teams to create user interface flows and requirements, wire-frames, and provide UI input during product development
- Create and document standards for usability testing, information architecture, interaction design and visual design
- Define and implement design criteria, guidelines, and specs; illustrate experience with industry standards and corporate visual design guidelines
Requirements:
- 3-5 years experience in designing and implementing both desktop and web-based user-interface projects
- Thorough understanding of best practices in interaction design, web design, user interface/usability/information architecture
- Experience in creating workflows and interfaces for enterprise/business-to-business applications designed for technical users
- Ability to articulate design concepts and prototypes, with the ability to define your “vision” for the project in a variety of ways: written, visually and verbally. Experience creating paper and interactive prototypes to demonstrate and evaluate designs
- Knowledge of current trends and capabilities with JavaScript, Java, .NET, XML, as well as new emerging technologies, like HTML5
- A mastery of web standards, design principles, and scalable dynamic GUIs
- A four-year degree in web design, graphic design or related field is required
- A professional portfolio of work that demonstrates process, design, and shows a commanding knowledge of user-centered design projects is expected
- Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in small and large groups, to all levels of the organization
- Expert skill level in the standard tools of the trade; Photoshop, DreamWeaver, HTML, etc.
